The 430 sq km sanctuary is home to the world's largest concentration of the greater one-horned rhinoceros. In all, 2,048 rhinos were found in Kaziranga National Park, followed by 84 in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, 64 in Orang National Park, and five in Manas National Park, in the last census in the state. In all, 132 persons have been arrested for poaching 46 rhinos in Assam since 2006. Nine were poached in 2006, 21 in 2007, and 16 in 2008, Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh said recently.
