Affected districts:

A 100-metre stretch of the state-of-the-art Matmora dyke was washed away by the Brahmaputra on the night of July 1. Some 14,000 people in around 300 villages have been affected. Affected gaon panchayats include East Dhakuakhana, Matmora, Kherkota, Dangdhara, Dimoruguri, Kekuri, and Dholpeta.

Malaysian firm Emaskiara has been blamed for slow work. It has completed work on 3.5km of the 5km long embankment. Flood waters broke through the unfinished 1.5km stretch.
