Entry added by NortheastUnlimited on June 8, 2009

The Assam government will set up a high-level committee to look into the dam-induced floods in the Ranganadi and Dikrong rivers. The panel will be headed by the chairman of the state pollution control board, Arun Dutta. the panel will submit its findings after a thorough investigation.

The committe apparently was constituted at the initiative of the power minister, Pradyut Bordoloi. The other members of the panel are R Baruah, general manager (hdrology), Assam Power Generation Company, and Atual Baruah, superintending engineer (civil design) of the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB). Of course, none of them are flood experts.
