  • Region: Assam; Manipur; Chandel District, Unapal, Satu, Kumirei, Chingunghut, Aimol Tampak, Khodamphai, Ngairong Aimol, Chandonpokpi, Soibong (Khudengthabi); Senapati District, Tuikhong; Churachandpur District, Kha-Aimol, Luichungbum
  • Dialects: Langrong. Langrong may be a separate language. Related to Chiru, Purum. Reportedly intelligible to Koireng.
  • Classification: Sino-Tibetan, Tibeto-Burman, Kuki-Chin-Naga, Kuki-Chin, Northern
  • Language use: Used in the home, church. Most speakers highly proficient in Meitei
  • Language development: Literacy rate in second language: 60% to 70%. Roman script.
